The Little Book of Common Sense Investing
Tarrent-Arthur Henry –
A Transformative Mindset Shift
“The Gap and The Gain: The High Achievers’ Guide to Happiness, Confidence, and Success” by Benjamin Hardy and Dan Sullivan introduces a simple yet profound concept that has the potential to transform the way individuals, particularly high-achievers, measure and perceive their progress. The central idea revolves around shifting focus from the elusive “Gap” â the space between one’s current reality and an idealized future â to the tangible “Gain” â the progress made relative to one’s past self.Dr. Benjamin Hardy, drawing on Dan Sullivan’s teachings, positions this concept as a masterclass in positive psychology, healthy relationships, mental well-being, and high-performance. The book emphasizes that measuring oneself against an ever-moving ideal often leads to dissatisfaction and unhappiness, especially for ambitious individuals. Instead, the authors advocate for evaluating progress by comparing one’s current self to their former self, thereby fostering a sense of appreciation for achievements and creating a positive mindset. The GAP and the GAIN concept, developed through Sullivan’s extensive work with successful entrepreneurs, becomes a psychological tool that allows individuals to acknowledge and celebrate their accomplishments. By periodically reflecting on personal and professional achievements, readers can experience a shift in perspective, realizing the extent of their progress that might have been overlooked while constantly aiming for distant goals. The book suggests that this mindset shift carries significant psychological benefits, fostering feelings of gratitude, motivation, and confidence. It is presented as a deceptively simple yet multi-layered concept that can lead to greater fulfillment and success. The authors argue that even during challenging times, understanding and applying the GAP and the GAIN concept can create a positive feedback loop, boosting motivation and paving the way for future accomplishments.”The Gap and The Gain” offers readers a transformative mindset shift, encouraging them to measure success not against unattainable ideals but against their own past achievements. With its roots in the coaching practices of Dan Sullivan, this book provides a practical and accessible guide for high-achievers seeking greater happiness, confidence, and success by focusing on the tangible gains made in their journey of personal and professional development.

Read it
This is one of the most powerful principles Iâve ever come across. I read about 12-18 business and development books a year and this one is top 10 for me(just because thereâs a lot of good ones). If you often find yourself in your own way, this is a great read.

Had some solid take away points.
I liked this book, I found it helpful with the idea of measuring backward from where youâve been and how far youâve come vs. looking at what you donât have and always chasing more. I like finding the silver lining. It was also an easy read, which I like. Some parts of the book teeter on what I might call toxic positivity and that part didnât jive with me.Otherwise, a good read for self-improvement.

Mind Opening
Truly an incredible read that for me has helped me take a deeper look inside me and decide how fervent of a life I want to live by my own measuring stick.

Mindset is key and if you undestand that, you will enjoy this book.
This is an excellent book if you want to learn to see what you have and not what you don’t have. We cripple ourselves by concentrating on what we don’t have. This will teach you to re-train your thinking and that change will make a difference.

life changing framework to keep the dreamer alive
This book was the answer to my prayers. A pragmatic lens on entrepreneurship integrated with passion, freedom and flow. I am grateful for these middle path books that are grounding but yet keep the inner dreamer alive.. it is quite the dance hence find this book to be invaluable.

This book helped me to escape my negative self talk habit. I was suffered from blaming myself from too much expectations of my abilities. But just looked back what I have done since I was 20s, there are a great career change and have built trust. I want to say thank you for the book and author.
