Required reading for democracy defenders
Every older adolescent and adult in the US should read these books. You can skip the (mostly excellent) TV series if you wish, but this 1985 publication and its 2019 sequel should be required reading for every person who values human rights and democracy. It’s been terrifyingly prescient and should make every American want to work however they can to preserve our democracy. Note: as a retired secondary school reading specialist, I advise the reader to be aware of the general and sexual violence in the series, and consider the developmental appropriateness for the younger reader. Substantive discussion is recommended.
