Great!
I felt this book did a good job at helping to realize that when stressful thoughts start happening about things that are out of our control, to refocus on things that we can control, and ultimately bring yourself down and find the calm. Great read!

Peace of Mind
I like this mindfulness book 🙂 It is to the point, very easy to understand, and also very helpful. I especially like the 21-day wakeup call in chapter 9 and the 7-second shift. Very good.

Educational
Iâve read about anxiety and overthinking. Rowan James doesnât sugarcoat anything, and thatâs what makes this book hit so hard. It speaks directly to that frantic, spiraling part of your brain that just wonât shut up, and offers guidance that actually sticks. I loved how relatable the writing isâitâs like having a brutally honest but deeply caring friend walk you through why your brain feels like a war zone, and how to slowly take back control. The personal tone and raw truth make it stand out from other mindfulness books Iâve tried (and given up on). If youâve ever felt like mindfulness wasnât âfor you,â this book will prove otherwise. Itâs practical, encouraging, and honestly kind of life-changing. Highly recommend if your mind feels like itâs stuck on fast-forward all the time.

Blunt but useful
This is a simple and practical guide for overcoming anxiety. As a therapist, I see therapeutic tools woven into the book which can be helpful such as the cognitive distortions and acknowledging that your mind is not a reliable narrator all the time.I can see how this book would be useful for some but not all- it is blunt and there is cursing and it can also be redundant at times. Overall, I can see this book being helpful for many but not all.

Too Much Cursing for Me
I found book by Rowan James helpful. I have a lot of trouble shutting my mind off. I lay down at night and my mind is going 1,000 miles an hour. During the day, I have trouble focusing because my mind wonât slow down. I thought if I got this book, it would help me. There are a lot of helpful tips and tricks in this book and heâs pretty straightforward with the information. I would have given this book 5 stars, except for the fact that he felt the need to curse quite often.I feel that you can get your point across without using curse words. Iâm not a prude, but I donât see the point in cursing. Louis LâA,our is a wonderful western author, and he never used curse words in hiswritings in any of his novels. He wrote close to 90 books and a few of those turned into movies such as The Sacketts. Louis L’Amour believed that it was possible to write compelling stories without resorting to cursing or obscenity, viewing such language as a potential cover-up for a lack of skill. He felt that real storytelling could convey authenticity without the need for profanity. I agree with him.Anyway I think itâs a good book and can help clear the clutter but it couldâve been done better without the vulgarity.

This book is raw, real, and perfect for overthinkers like myself. It’s filled with a ton of relatable stories and also some tools that show how to quiet the mental chaos that happens during work or when dealing with relationships. I absolutely love how it’s honest, and it doesn’t sugarcoat the discussions. Highly recommended for sure!
