I related 100% & now Iâm utilizing
I purchased this book through Kindle which I find is much easier to read as I often flip back a page or 2 to re-read. Iâm a classic on what the cover applies. Itâs why I purchased it. Obsessive thoughts & worrying have been with me for as long as I can remember. I feel genetics is a factor for some, others are life experiences & just who I became as an adult. After going through cancer these issues became worse even though I recovered. I didnât recover emotionally. I had my Son & the worrier as a Mother kicked in. Before I knew it the stress management I had in place caved & anxiety was a a daily fight. I still fight it. Iâm more equipped now in coping with it in working with a Psycholgist & specifically focusing on Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). This practice has changed a lot for me in a positive way. Iâm always a sucker for books on these topics & always looking for guidance from a different perspective. Iâm glad I purchased this book. The 1st chapter I scanned as itâs a lot of explaining of what these mental health conditions are. Chapter 2 gets into the thick of things where I particularly liked âThe 4 Aâs of Stress Management.â As he states âall you need to remember is four techniques: avoid, alter, accept and adapt. I found this to be very useful to me. It writes a hard to approach topic(s) & breaks them down so itâs so easy to understand. This writing continued throughout the entire book. He breaks it down with an easy way to understand & begin an approach to apply it to your life. Iâve learned meditation is an awesome way to provide TLC to myself on a daily basis & it improves my overall mental health at the sane time as well as so many other amazing benefits. His âThe 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding Techniqueâ is similar to the way meditation gets started & it can be applied when your not meditating. He does an awesome job describing how to use this technique. Learning how to manage my time has helped me with procrastination. He cites theories but again makes it easy to read. The chapter on Setting SMART Goals truly teaches one-of course putting what you read into action- not to set goals which will lead to failure. Each letter is SMART serves a purpose Iâll remember. I liked âHow to find instant zenâ the best. Donât we all wish for that. Again how he presents in actually achieving it made me feel, I can do this~ really! Again meditation is brought into play here as he focuses on the breath process of inhaling & exhaling which we all do. Whatâs important is paying attention to it more often. I could continue on & on with the rest of his book but the rest doesnât disappoint. I ended the book feeling more confident in being able to manage my obsessing thinking, my stresses & my anxiety in check. I read portions of the book to my Psychologist in one of my sessions & she applauded his writings. The book was very much worth what I paid. If you are an over thinker I feel you would benefit from this book. I do recommend it!

Good book so far yet it has printing typos
So far the book is great. Iâm barely on chapter 1, but I am noticing that thereâs a lot of printing typos so some of the words are double spaced out and that is distracting when Iâm reading for some reason it bothers me but itâs continuous throughout the book. Does anyone else have this issue with their reading?

Good but packed book
Iâm an overthinker for sure and this book did a good job of highlighting some of the core reasons we tend to overthink. The techniques were useful but they were too many in my opinion and caused me to lose interest in the book. I finished but wasnât as interested the more I read. Iâd recommend starting with the chapter summaries at the back of the book and then reading/studying the chapter(s) that you need the most help with.

Tools To Stop Overthinking
I found a lot of helpful information in this book, starting with the engaging writing style.There is a quote in the book that really zeroes in on why overthinking can be changed.Itâs basically that the brain can take you places but your body can only be in one place.Thatâs a great description of being in the present!I also really like the takeaways at the end of each chapter. And the repetition has a purpose.The techniques mentioned offer variety for everyone. They may not be universally applicable for everyone but these are all options. The 4As are a tool that I think will help me.The message I got from this book is that overthinking is something that anyone can address. I am going to read more of Mr. Trentonâs books.
