An atheist talks to God?!
I am glad this was my first book to try on Audible as it was full of surprises! The title was intriguing so I had already purchased the paperback version even though, like most of us, âdidnât have timeâ to actually read it. I finally grabbed some time to read it on a recent trip. And after being WOW-ed (with a very marked up/highlighted book to show for it), I was longing to listen to the guided God Talks audio version with music included.Although not the cover, I Do tend to judge a book by its Author, so I was happily relieved to see that he did not come across as an arrogant, all-knowing God-expert. Rather, he was a refreshing mix of both confidence And humility. He was transparent about his many mistakes in life: failing kindergarten, nearly crashing his fighter jet through his own error, and even making the statement that heâs not very good at listening to God for himself!! Thatâs quite an admission, based on the bookâs title and subsequent content! And his amusing, conversational writing And talking style is easy to read AND listen to!The author explains how our minds are wired with three parts: the conscious mind (our decision-maker), the subconscious mind (the unseen driver of our decisions), and the little-known super-conscious mind (where insight and wisdom are ignited).He shares a 3-step process for conversing with God over 7 Days:1. Get alone with a notebook and Relax for several minutes.2. Ask God Two Questions:(Day 1 Ex.) âWhat lies do I believe about Me?â Write down whatever comes to mind, even if it takes awhile…âWhat is True about Myself?â Write down what you hear.3. Recode your mind with 2 new statements.âI let go of the lie that______(insert the lie).ââI receive the truth that______(insert the truth).â[I admit it felt really Awkward at first but then got easier. . .and I was caught off guard several times when some amazing, out-of-the-blue thought dropped in!]This God Talks process only takes 20 minutes or so and each day is on a different topic: You, God, Your Past, Your Future, Money, Your Purpose, Your business.Although the book is full of real-life stories, the one that jumped off the page for me was âMaiaâs Storyâ, about a woman attending the authorâs business event. Apparently after each two-day event, he holds an optional God Talks session on the third day. Maia showed up, thinking it was just a third day of more great business insights. She left as soon as the topic was announced, but as she opened the door to leave, her curiosity led her back to her seat.Maia was an avowed atheist, with Good Reason, because from the age of five she had been sexually abused by her father. After all, If there really was a God, wouldnât he have rescued her??And yet here she was, asking âGodâ what lie she believed about herself. The answer was immediate: âThat youâre unworthy, ugly and donât mean anything to me.âSo she asked what was True about her.And the response that broke off 40 years of chains: âThat you Are worthy, Beautiful…and I love you.âAs the author writes: âIn an instant, her heart was supercharged with love from Someone who didnât exist five seconds ago!âWOW. . . If an atheist can try talking to God, I suppose Any of Us can!

For us, âGod Talksâ is the right book at the right time. Wow, wow, wow!!!
Full disclosure, this is the first review weâve ever written on Amazon (we usually keep our opinions to ourselves), but this book is something really special and we felt compelled to share our experience. We are currently in a season of tremendous challenge on multiple fronts, and we were wondering if God was hearing any of our prayers, because He has (seemingly) been silent so far, and we have been struggling to come up with answers and workable solutions but getting nowhere. We came across the title âGod Talksâ and took a chance on the Kindle, and boy, were we happy we did. Mr. Rush (what a great name for a fighter pilot, right?) has written something that has touched us on a deep level. His writing style is funny, poignant and honest, but more importantly the talking-to-God exercises work. They actually, really work! And the results have been immediate, tangible and an answer to prayer. God has indeed heard us in our time of need, He is finally speaking to us, and Heâs used this book at the vehicle.We are looking to making God Talks a daily routine. We liked the Kindle so much we bought the paperback so we can dog ear the pages, highlight, underline and make it a true study book. We also got the Audible version so that we can listen to it while driving.In a nutshell, âGod Talksâ is about God revealing to you what lies you believe about yourself, your past, your future, your business, and so much more, and replacing those lies with truth. Truth that will unlock you and help you to move forward and see things clearly. Eliminate the thinking that has held you back, has hurt you, self-sabotaged you and weighed you down with unnecessary guilt.As for the book itself, it is well written and fun and easy to read. We laughed at his failing kindergarten story (who does that and admits it?), we cried at his parentsâ divorce story, and we were amazed at the Evil-Knievel stories during his fighter pilot years and how he cheated death â time and time again. What makes it special is his willingness to âgo thereâ, to admit mistakes and also be emotionally vulnerable. We loved the stories of Maia and Caroline and how God Talks literally transformed their lives. And the story of his youngest daughter dancing and skipping down Main Street USA at Disneyland is completely adorable.We highly recommend God Talks. There are a lot of inspiration/self-help books out there, but this one has the added benefit of being true and actually working. For us, it has been the right book at the right time, and we are very grateful to the author for putting together something so simple to do, but so profoundly impactful when done.Thank you Mr. Rush.

If you read a lot of books about self improvement. This will finish it. If you have’nt, it will work for you too! Its amazing how “stupid little words” can creat such an impact. I mean an impact for life now. No it’s not a magic wand swung by the one and only super guru alive. Not at all, its your and my mouth asking questions about life and getting them answered. Obviously not as expexted – because why in the world read a book and dare to praise the content if whats happens is known to us all?Reading the book is like someone you admonish and trust is taking your hand and leading you besides still waters to rest and relax. On this trip he will make you upset in a gentle way with your circumstances and comforts you to take a step with you giggling deep in your heart at the same time.It is amazing to me. The style of the book itself is like you are on your holiday trip with you favorite person and having here and there a cool drink and still you are growing.Give it a shot, it is fine. Even the humor alone was worth it and leaves you encouraged and your hopes up.

I love this book! Every chapter is full of fun, is affirming and shows us the simple way to hear from God about…everything. By asking God straightforward questions, we hear from Him and this is transformative.And the easy process is for everyone.The author of ‘God Talks’, Ed Rush, has helped over 10,000 people of all faiths and no faith to hear from God.I have been journaling for a number of years, yet often got stuck. This way of hearing from God has taken things to an entirely new level. After reading the first few chapters of God Talks, I stopped to ask God the two questions. His answers were profound…it has been almost breathtaking to receive so much and so easily.The book is full of fun and incredible yet true stories. I laughed out loud…often! This is possibly one of the reasons for the effectiveness of what the book teaches us. We laugh, relax and then it’s easier to hear from God. Ed was a Top Gun fighter pilot so, as you can imagine, his stories are memorable!The book (and God Himself) are very affirming and encouraging. ‘God put you here for a reason’ and ‘It’s not too late. In fact you are right on time’.Ed encourages us all to dream big, huge, impossible dreams. (P.140).How many books have a riveting, unputdownable appendix? God Talks does! ‘Unlimited Freedom’ and ‘Acres of Gold’ are two of the bonus chapters that are outstanding.I bought the book and after reading the first few chapters, bought it for others.Very highly recommended!

Loved this book. I even got the Audible! Not only did it show me how simple yet powerful conversations with God can be, it challenged my views on money and my mission, and also helped reconcile a few ideas I couldn’t reconcile before. There are free bonuses that come with the book too, and I really appreciated the audio guides.
